100% FUNDING AVAILABLE FOR EMPLOYEE TRAINING
HONESDALE, PA, August 27, 2009—Wayne County companies must act now if they wish to take advantage of 100% funding for eligible employee training.

Recently, a portion of the WIRED/Wall Street West grant for the northeastern PA region was allocated to employee training. Businesses wishing to train their incumbent workers will not be required to provide any cash match towards the cost of a training program, but will be required to invest though in-kind or leveraged services. An example of an in-kind match is the salary paid to employees while they are being trained.

Wall Street West has also expanded the scope of eligible industry clusters beyond Business and Financial Services to include Healthcare and Life Sciences, Information and Technology, Advanced Manufacturing, Logistics and Transportation, and STEM.

Employee training could be provided off-site at a college or university or in-house through an approved training provider.

There is a limited amount of training funds available. The Wall Street West grant period ends on December 31 of this year.

Businesses are encouraged to contact Marie McDonnell of the Wayne County Job Training office at (570) 253-5970 extension 1765 for program details.

STERLING BUSINESS PARK CONSTRUCTION ON SCHEDULE
July 2009 - What a difference a year makes. In May 2008, WEDCO celebrated the groundbreaking of Sterling Business Park after awarding the first of two construction contracts for Phase 1 infrastructure development. This phase will result in 73 saleable acres, predominately on the east side of S.R. 191. Today, the $2.8 million site development contract is almost complete. The sewer lines, water system and water tanks are built, approximately 2,000 linear feet of interior roadway has been paved, and the stormwater controls are in place. The right of way for the utility lines has been cleared and we have bored under S.R. 191 and installed conduit for underground utility crossings.
